This page is to inform you and to keep you updated on the 40+ cats on hospitality point that call the jetty, and nearby shipyard and rocks, their home.

We found the jetty cats nearly four years ago now while on a bike ride. We've been feeding them ever since. We are now part of a group of 4 volunteers who take turns feeding the cats once every day. In addition to feeding, we also pick up kitty poop, trash, fishing line, hooks, cigarette butts, bottles and anything else that may cause injury to the cats or other wildlife.
These cats are part of a feral cat "colony". Each cat has been spayed/neutered. The colony started with approx. 60 cats around10 years ago and is now down to about ~35 cats. We've been feeding since January of 2014.
In addition to the now ~25 cats on the main jetty, we also care for approx. 12 other cats in the area - that live in/around the nearby shipyard, as well as in the nearby rocks. The shipyard cats started as pets to a gentleman that lived on a boat in the shipyard; however, he could not afford to have the cats spayed/neutered. As a result, his pet cat population grew. Last year, he became ill and was no longer able to live on his boat in the shipyard. All the cats were then abandoned and left to fend for themselves. John H., one of our team members, went to great lengths to catch each cat and have it spayed /neutered. Unfortunately, since homes for most of them were not available, they have been returned to the shipyard to live their lives in the only place they know as home.
Each volunteer pays for food on their own. We can always use and really appreciate donations. There are a few ways you can help: (1) send a check; (2) call in or place an online order to Wal-Mart or Target in Poway and we'll pick it up directly from the store; (3) drop off food donations at my home in Scripps Ranch; (4) I will drive to your home and pick up your food donation; or (5) donate through Paypal (see e-mail below). Contact information can be found by clicking on the tab at the top of this page titled "Contact Info."
If you'd like to make a donation, please feel free to use our PayPal: "[email protected]"
ALL donations will go for the cost of vet care and food for these cats.
Thank you for caring about the cats and for reading our page!
